WSMS is a Star Affiliate that covers the Memphis, TN Market Area it is owned by MediaStar Corporation and broadcasts on Channel 41. Studios are located new the University of Memphis on the cities eastern side. Channel 41 signed on in 1976 making it one of the oldest TV stations in the Mid-South. Currently 41 News is in the process of receiving the "MediaStar One" brand, this will coincide with the new building in Downtown Memphis. It is apart of a duopoly with KSWG-TV on channel 8.
WSMS has been owned by MediaStar since 1999 and is the 6th Star Affiliate to be owned by MediaStar. As of 9/20/2023 WSMS/KSWG has become the 4th MediaStar properties to reccieve the new MediaStar One graphics package. Bringing New Logos/ VO's/ and a new technological set along with WSMS moving to the SWG building which is much larger in Germantown.
