WPXF-TV (channel 20) is a television station in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, affiliated with The CW and owned by Adelphia Communications and operated by Clear Channel Communications.
History[]
The station was owned by Fortner Digital Media Properties until June 24, 2016, when the station was sold to Adelphia. Before the purchase, WPXF was an independent station. After Adelphia made the purchase, they've turned over operations of the station to Clear Channel, who made WPXF-TV an O&O (owned and operated) affiliate of MyTV (since Adelphia owns a share of MyTV).
A New Era[]
Following MyTV's announcement of being cable-only, it was announced that on September 1, 2023, WPXF would be an affiliate of The CW, replacing WPKD-TV which is becoming an independent when CBS News and Stations announced that the station is going to become an independent. From August 14–31, the station stayed with MyTV even though the network would be cable only. On September 1, WPXF became an affiliate of The CW.
