Not to be confused with the real-life WKHY, an FM radio station in Lafayette, Indiana.
WKHY (channel 3) is a television station serving as the ABC affiliate for Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States and all of West Michigan. Owned by the JD Broadcasting Properties alongside WBN affiliate WJLE (channel 20).
History[]
WKHY was built and signed on by Krueger Broadcasting on January 3, 2016 as the company wanted to expand in the top 50 markets. Grand Rapids is the 41st market, which is why Krueger negotiated an affiliation contract with ABC and shortly after, built the station. On May 30, 2016, Krueger Broadcasting announced that as part of a trade for Adelphia to acquire Fox-affiliate WWMA, they would trade WKHY (and indianapolis Fox-affiliate WIND) to Adelphia for WWMA and Indianapolis MyNetworkTV affiliate WIHS.
Sale to the JD Broadcasting Properties[]
On September 4, 2022, Adelphia agreed to sell WKHY to the JD Broadcasting Properties.
