WGVH is a CBS affiliate that serves the Valdosta, GA region. It broadcasts on Channel 28 and is owned by Cunningham Broadcasting. Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns Fox affiliated station WXPO (channel 50), operates WGVH under a local marketing agreement. Syndicated programming on WGVH includes: Entertainment Tonight, Maury, Harry, and Live with Kelly and Ryan among others. For a long time, the station did not air any local news, instead, it's syndicated programs are placed on the timeslots. The station is owned by Krueger Broadcasting along with low-powered ABC affiliate WVGA. WGVH debuted the CBS O&O graphics on November 7, 2015 as all Krueger Broadcasting owned CBS stations use them. At the same time, WGVH restarted its attempt to provide local news programs, and it has fared much better than the previous two. On June 21, 2016, WGVH was given to Group W. On May 7, 2017, after being owned by Galaxy Broadcasting, WGVH was sold to Cunningham Broadcasting.

Newscast Attempt[]

When the station first launched in 1995 as a CBS affiliate, the station first carried their newscast called News 28, However the station later dropped its newscast in 1997 due to a labor dispute, the station tried again in 2001, it was called NewsChannel 28, it was later dropped again in 2004 due to another labor dispute and a dispute consisting of several parties. From that period until 2015, the station did not carry any sort of local news except the only news broadcasted on the station is news from CBS News including CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley (now the CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor), CBS Morning News, Face the Nation, CBS News Sunday Morning, 60 Minutes, and CBS Overnight News. From the beginning, the station has been affiliated with CBS. The station carried programming from The WB from its January 23, 1995 sign-on to March 15, 1995 when new WB affiliate WVWB went on the air (the station is now a MyNetworkTV affiliate). WGVH began its newest attempt at a newscast on November 7, 2015. It has fared much better than the previous two attempts. In 2017, when Galaxy Broadcasting (Who owns WVGA) bought the station, they merged its newscast with WVGA's (then WVGA News). Now thier news is known as Action News Now. Unlike many CBS affiliates, the station does not carry a noon newscast, instead Infomercials fill that time slot at noon.
