WGAT-TV (channel 48) is an independent television station that serves Memphis, Tennessee.

History

WGAT signed on for the first time on May 9, 1981, intending to run a general programming format. In 1990, they were bought by Anticipalivision, and then the year after that, they became a Fox affiliate. They remained a Fox affiliate before they became a UPN affiliate in 1998. In 2006, UPN shut down and WGAT reverted to being an independent station. They remain independent to this day.
