WDGJ (channel 9) is a television station in Columbus, GA, serving as the Horizon affiliate. It is owned by Flower Television.
History[]
As a MyTV affiliate (2017-23)[]
On July 10, 2017, it was announced that MyTV would expand from two hours a night to three hours a night, which would push affiliates that also have Ion Television affiliates to cut Ion's time further. Independence Broadcasting (which owned dual affiliate WMMJ) made the announcement that they would be dropping MyTV from their Ion Television affiliates and become full-time Ion Television affiliates. MyTV, Inc. and Independence made a deal to give the network time to find new affiliates for MyTV in the markets that would be affected by Independence's decision, and as a result, it was decided that WDGJ would be the new MyTV affiliate on Sept. 18, 2017, and WMMJ would be a full-time Ion Television affiliate. At midnight on Sept. 18, 2017, WDGJ became the new MyTV affiliate for the area.
Closure, sale & relaunch, and Horizon affiliation (2023-present)[]
Following the news of MyTV going to be cable-only, Gannett Communications announced plans of closing the station down. The station's final day was August 13, 2023.
Flower Television purchased the license and relaunched the station on August 28, as a current simulcast of The Pride Network. The station has hinted that it would be relaunching the station soon.
On September 6, Flower announced that the station would affiliate with Horizon Television, as part of an affiliation deal plus station sales. The station affiliated on Sunday, September 10.
