WAYS

WAYS is an affiliate of the Prime Time Entertainment Network (PTEN) serving Cocoa, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Titusville, Cape Canaveral, and the entire Brevard County Metro. Broadcasting on channel 19, WAYS is owned and operated by the Brevard County Local Broadcasting Association (BCLBA). The station was launched in 1981, and has been locally owned ever since. WAYS was an independent until 1993, when they became an affiliate of PTEN.

History

WAYS was launched on April 20, 1981 as WBRV, by the Brevard County Local Broadcasting Association. Launched as independent station, WBRV aired kids programming during the morning, followed by off-network syndication during the afternoon and movies throughout the night. WBRV also aired religious programming all day Sunday. In 1993, the Prime Time Entertainment Network was getting ready to launch and they needed affiliates. WAYS agreed to become charter members of the PTEN. In 2006, WBRV changed its call letters to the current "WAYS", formerly used by CW affiliate WCCW in Charlotte.
