Spectrum sale

On April 13, 2017, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that WAIH-CA had successfully sold its broadcast spectrum in the spectrum incentive auction and would be surrendering its license in exchange for $61,881,549. WAIH will be one of three stations in Liberty City and one of many in the United States that will be ceasing operations due to the auction. WAIH is expected to sign off the air January 1, 2018 with the Me-TV affiliation being moved to WRBL-DT2, which coincidentally, was also involved in the FCC spectrum auction.

On December 25, 2017, it was announced that the WAIH call letters would be used for a new Independent affiliated station in Indianapolis, Indiana owned by RainbowDash72 after WAIH-CA signs off the air. It was also announced that local PBS member station WDFV (channel 39) would obtain the former UHF digital channel 30 slot after WAIH-CA signs off the air due to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requiring television stations broadcasting on physical channels 38-51 to move to lower channel posistions. An agreement was made between WAIH's owners and WDFV's owners to have WDFV move to WAIH's former UHF digital channel 30 slot after January 1 since WDFV broadcasts on physical channel 39.

WAIH officially ceased operations at midnight on January 1, 2018 with The Odd Couple being the final program aired. Me-TV programming then moved to WRBL-DT2.
