The Pride Network is an American digital multicast television network headquartered in Berkeley, CA (alongside network-operating KGAY). It is owned by Flower Television, and specializes in newscasts and content towards the LGBTQ+ community, including original programming.

The network’s current rivals are cable-only The Q and streaming-only Ident.

History[]

According to the station on the day of the announcement (June 28), the concept had been in the works for a long time since 2019, but plans were halted due to the pandemic. Costs and agreements became rough, and almost were cancelled. Plans arose back up in February 2022 as a better start. When Flower Television acquired KGAY in 2023, the former happily agreed to start the network and bring it up onto it's feet.

Although the network was planned for August 25, Flower announced that it would be pushed back to August 28 due to looking for affiliations in major markets. They said that it would be easier since the rollout is still being prepared. A week later after the announcement of MyTV to soon become cable-only, Adelphia Communications announced that it would be putting The Pride Network onto main channels or subchannels.

The network launched on August 28.

Programming[]

The network airs shows from many studios, including Elite, It’s A Sin, Owl House, and more; and also original shows made by the network (with production assistance of Horizon Television), such as Challenges (a documentary show highlighting people’s lives), In & Out (a series about love amongst others), and more.

The network also produces national newscasts coming from network-operated KGAY. The newscasts highlight both positive and negative stories with intricate details and facts that are reliable. The newscasts air at both noon and 7pm for an hour. The network also uses footage and sources from Horizon, alongside GayTimes, LGBTQNation, and journalistic reporting and others.
