The Rainbow Dash Network (RDN) is a free-to-air terrestrial television network that serves the United States, Canada, Australia, Dahrconia, Cheyenna Republic, China, Japan, New Zealand, the Philippines and the U.K. Its programming includes, RDN NightScene, RDN National News, and Facing The Press, as well as the sports programming, SportsWorld and RDN's Wide World of Sports among others.
History[]
The network launched on April 14, 2011 in Ponyville on television station WRDN and in Canterlot on television station WCTL. By July 2011, every television market in the United States had a Rainbow Dash Television station. The network launched in Montreal, Canada on January 1, 2012 on television station CHPNY-DT. RDN launched it's first station in Australia by mid-2013.
It infamously lost 6 stations and a added 16 more in the 2015 US TV broadcast realignment and the April 2015 US TV shakeup which ended up with the FCC banning realignments or shakeups from happening in the broadcasting community. Madison1996 has been slowly purchasing them back, either reverting it back to RDN, or making it one of the non-RDN affiliates she owns.
In 2016, RDN launched a 24-hour cable news channel called RDN News. In big breaking news stories, RDN News has been the news agency that had break into regular RDN programming with special reports.
RDN was slated to launch in Saudi Arabia in 2019 but on October 1, 2017, CEO and President Shelbie Warrick decided that RDN will not launch in Saudi Arabia or any Middle Eastern country.
On July 29, 2022, Robloxia Broadcasting Company and PolyGram Broadcasting announced that it would acquire most of Madison1996's television stations and networks since her departure from broadcasting. The sale was canceled due to ownership caps.
