Fictionaltvstations Wiki

RXRBC (channel 27) is a television station licensed to Meepcity, Robloxia, serving the Meepcity area as an affiliate of ABC. It is owned by Nexstar Media Group, which provides certain services to Fox affiliate RXFOX (channel 39, also licensed to Meepcity) under a local marketing agreement (LMA) with Mission Broadcasting.

History

RXRBC signed on June 27, 1953 as the first television station in the Meepcity area as KNRX, which was affiliated with NBC. It aired a secondary CBS affiliation until KNRX became a sole NBC affiliate when KGTB (now Central affiliate KGFY) channel 11, signed on May 10, 1954. It was founded by the Robloxia Department of Recreation and Parks in Meepcity, until by September 4, 1954, RDRPM sold KNRX to Meredith Corporation.

MediaMac ownership

On July 21, 1989, Meredith sold KNRX to MediaMac Communications, in order to comply with FCC regulations. The sale was completed on September 29, 1989.

Switch to ABC

After 2 days of sale completion, KNRX and KMTB swapped affiliations. KNRX became KARX-TV, which became an ABC affiliate and KMTB became an NBC affiliate. After the affiliation swap, KMEE-TV (channel 7) became the only major television station in Meepcity to never change its affiliation.

Sale to the Robloxia Broadcasting Corporation

On August 8, 2010, MediaMac would sell KARX-TV to the Robloxia Broadcasting Corporation and KTNI-TV (now RXFOX) to Newport Television. The sale was approved by the FCC on September 6, and completed on November 18. On December 31, 2011, KARX-TV changed its call letters to the current RXRBC, to refer to the Robloxia Broadcasting Corporation ownership.

Sale to Nexstar Broadcasting Group

On October 4, 2012, RBC would sell RXRBC to the Nexstar Broadcasting Group, as the stations faced financial troubles. The sale was completed on December 21, 2012, this would make a sister station to KTNI-TV since its purchase from Newport Television.

On January 27, 2016, Media General announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Nexstar. Because Media General owns KMEE-TV, the new company was required to sell that station or RXRBC/RXFOX to another owner. On June 3, 2016, it was announced that Nexstar would keep RXRBC and RXFOX and sell Media General station KMEE to the Robloxia Broadcasting Corporation for $60 million.
