Pivot (stylized as PIVOT) is an American broadcast television network and FAST service owned and operated by the Pivot Media subsidiary of GloboRB. Aimed at adults ages 18 to 49, the network's schedule consists of first-run programming, reruns produced by Freenity Studios, and syndicated programming, along with feature films. Pivot is headquartered out of GloboRB's additional offices in Atlanta, Georgia.

Pivot was originally launched as a cable network in 2013 by Participant Media, but was shut down just three years later. GloboRB, then known as Studio Networks, acquired the intellectual property in late 2018 and relaunched the network in May 2019 as a digital multicast network. Pivot made its return to cable on January 13, 2022, and satellite on April 15, 2022. On January 1, 2024, Pivot became the company's secondary broadcast television network, replacing Nueve after the latter returned to basic cable television.

History[]

Original run of Pivot[]

Main article: Pivot (Wikipedia)

The original network launched on August 1, 2013, by Participant Media, replacing two of its existing networks. Described as a "social advocacy" channel, Pivot focused on issues the youth and young adults faced with America's political and social changes. The network also aired acquired programming such as Friday Night Lights and Veronica Mars.

Pivot ceased broadcasting on the early morning of October 31, 2016, following years of stagnant ratings, small viewing audiences, and an overall shift away from television.

Relaunch as a digital multicast network (2019)[]

In late 2018, GloboRB (then known as Studio Networks) acquired the "Pivot" intellectual property from Participant. Pivot officially relaunched on May 22, 2019, at 12 p.m. ET across selected subchannels on GloboRB-owned television stations. Former programming on the original network were reselected and reacquired for the revival. In 2022, the network became available as primary affiliates on selected GloboRB stations. The first to do so was WSTJ-DT (now WPVO) Atlanta, which became its flagship station.

Commercial broadcast and FAST service (2024)[]

On December 17, 2023, GloboRB announced that Nueve would return as a cable-only network and its O&O stations would be taken over by Pivot on January 1, 2024. This upgrade shifted the latter's status to commercial broadcast and as the secondary network to both Freenity and GloboRB. On that day, a new logo was introduced to accommodate the network's relaunch (with the 'V' continuing to be a different color, now green) and adopt a new slogan "Dive In", in reference to the now larger library it broadcasts. Plans for the network to expand its affiliation with third-party companies are currently in discussion. As of September 2024, there are three Pivot affiliates: PolyGram Broadcasting's KEJW in Brinson, Texas, Eidos Media KFMS-DT2 in San Fierro, San Andreas, and MTHF-DT2 in Toad Harbor, Mushroom Kingdom.

Pivot Media[]

Pivot Media

On November 1, 2024, GloboRB replaced the long-running RB Digital Networks division with Pivot Media. The new subsidiary oversees the operations of Pivot and its four digital multicast sister networks; Desperado, Freenity Drama, Freenity Lifestyle, and Zest. That same day, Freenity Drama relaunched as Melody (which previously used the branding from 2022 to 2023) while Freenity Lifestyle relaunched as Pivot Life.

On October 1, 2024, the network aired its first original program "Labyrinths of Passion" (co-produced with RB Next) on its prime time slot. GloboRB has confirmed that more original programming is under development and expect to broadcast on the network the following year.

Pivot Plus (2019-2024)[]

Pivot Plus was the free linear television counterpart available on selected streaming services that formerly operated as a terrestrial broadcast network.

Launched on October 1, 2019, as "W3 Network Plus", the feed primarily served the medium and smaller television markets, carrying the same schedule as its parent "W3 Network". The service was primarily carried on digital subchannels, low-powered primary stations, and multichannel subscription television providers. On July 26, 2021, the network rebranded as "Freemax Plus", but almost two months later, it was absorbed by W3's forerunner Freemax on September 19, 2021. On November 12, 2021, "Freemax Plus" was relaunched as a linear broadcast network for then nascent RBTV along with other Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) services such as Samsung TV Plus, Pluto TV, and Vizio WatchFree, completed with a different schedule, mainly consisting of all-day marathons of series and movies.

On May 1, 2022, Freemax Plus was rebranded as Pivot Plus, underlying ties with Pivot.

On January 2, 2024, Pivot Plus was absorbed by Pivot's main feed as part of a branding unionization but continues to air on FAST services.
