From its sign-on until December 31, 2001, channel 8 was owned by the locally-based San Fierro Chronicle Publishing Company, who would later announce its exit from broadcasting and subsequent dissolution; [[Krueger Broadcasting]] purchased it and completed the sale on January 1, 2002. On December 30, 2015, Krueger announced they traded channel 8 to RainbowDash72 (now [[User:Madison1996|<font color=white>Madison1996</font>]]). On July 28, 2022, Madison1996 announced that they would divest KVQP to NBCUniversal in order to comply with ownership limits, and the transaction was completed a day later.
