KTBL (channel 12) is a television station in San Diego, CA, affiliated with The CW and owned by Adelphia Communications alongside MyNetworkTV affiliate KSAU.

History

KTBL signed on the air back on May 28, 1977 and signed on as an Independent. KTBL remained as an Independent affiliate for nearly 10 years up until 1986 when the newly formed FOX Network signed on. KTBL ditched the Independent affiliation to be with FOX and KTBL remained with FOX for nearly 20 years up until late 2014 when the fictional tv station realignment occurred. KTBL then switched affiliations yet again, this time switching with then CW affiliate KPEB to become San Diego's newest CW affiliate. The switch was finalized December 31, 2014 and since then, KTBL has remained an affiliate of The CW. On Feb. 9, 2017, CBS Television Stations announced they've traded away KNLS, KTBL, and KCIT (CW, Kansas City, MO).
