KIXT (channel 9) is a television station licensed to Seaboard, Robloxia, serving Seaboard and parts of the Peyton area, as an affiliate of ABC. Owned by the JD Broadcasting Properties. Studios and offices are located on Seaboard Avenue on Downtown Seaboard and its transmitter is located on Seaboard Lakes, Robloxia.
KIXT covers parts of the Peyton area where KPYA-LD's low-power signal is not reachable.
History
KIXT signed on August 8, 1952 as the second television station in Seaboard as KIXT-TV, 4 years after KSBR-TV (channel 5), took the affiliation from that station. KIXT's call signs are held after its mascot, Julian. The mascot's original owner was Henry Davis Johnson, a Seaboard native. The -TV suffix was dropped on June 12, 2009 after the FCC-mandated digital switchover.
Sale to MediaMac Communications
On June 5, 1989, Henry Davis Johnson sold KIXT to MediaMac Communications, as he was ill from cancer. Henry Davis Johnson died at the age of 98 after two days the sale was completed on December 18, 1991.
Sale to Nexstar Broadcasting Group
On April 17, 2004, MediaMac would sell KIXT to the Nexstar Broadcasting Group for $54 million. This made Nexstar's entrance to Robloxia. The sale was approved by the FCC and completed on September 3, 2004.
Sale to JD Broadcasting Properties
On September 2, 2021, Nexstar announced that it would sell KIXT to another company to save the station's money from debt. JD Brobradcasting Properties would be interested to buy KIXT for $481 million in cash and debt. The sale was approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on September 7, 2021 and completed in October 1, 2021. After the sale, JDBP owns the entirety of station ownership in Robloxia.
