KBCY-LD (channel 15) is a low-powered television station in Paleto Bay, San Andreas, affiliated with The CW and WBN. It is owned by JD Broadcasting Properties alongside ABC affiliate KARN-TV (channel 22).
Due to KBCY-LD's low-power signal, it can only reach some parts of the Paleto Bay market. However, KBCY-LD simulcasts on KARN-TV's fourth subchannel, to reach through all of the market.
History[]
As a WB affiliate[]
The station signed on the air on September 6, 1995 as K15BC, originally as a low-powered affiliate of The WB. Cable and satellite viewers could also receive KTLS (channel 5), which was available on Paleto Bay providers for years. K15BC became KBCY-LP in September 14, 1999.
Independence (2006-2023)[]
On January 24, 2006, the Warner Bros. unit of Time Warner and CBS Corporation announced that the two companies would shut down The WB and UPN and combine the networks' respective programming to create a new "fifth" network called The CW. On the day of the announcement, the network signed a ten-year affiliation deal with 11 of CBS Corporation's 15 UPN stations, including KTOG. Network representatives were on record as preferring the "strongest" WB and UPN affiliates in terms of viewership, and KTOG had been well ahead of KBCY-LP in the ratings for virtually all of UPN's run. Another new network that would launch the same month as The CW, MyNetworkTV (which debuted on September 5), ended up affiliating on newly-launched KCNK.
The CW affiliation (2023-present)[]
In May 2023, CBS News and Stations announced that its CW affiliates, including Paleto Bay station KTOG, would cease their affiliation with the network in September and become independent stations. JD Broadcasting Properties announced on August 12, 2023, KBCY-LD would take over the CW affiliation for the Paleto Bay market on September 1.
Programming[]
Syndicated programming on KBCY-LD includes Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, The People's Court, Judge Mathis, Harry and The Ellen DeGeneres Show among others.
