KBKR (channel 7) is a television station in Bakersfield, California, broadcasting programming from ABC. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group.

History[]

KBKR signed on in 1952, airing programming from all four networks at the time (NBC, CBS, ABC, and DuMont); NBC was its primary affiliation. With DuMont's demise in 1956, the launch of KCTC (channel 50) also in 1956, and the launch of KOBB (channel 8) in 1958, the station became a sole NBC affiliate. However, in 1964, KBKR swapped affiliations with KOBB, with KBKR taking the ABC affiliation and KOBB taking the NBC affiliation.
