BCEN (channel 55) is a television station in Blakeville, Wagnerland, Boem, affiliated with Central and owned by Swift Television Group.
History[]
The station went on the air on January 2, 1967. It was the fourth station in the Blakeville market, the first full Central affiliate in Boem, and was originally locally owned by Ching Rexton. The area's previous Central affiliate, BCDN, switched to ABC full-time, sending Central to BCEN, as the network was still considerably new at the time. It has been with Central ever since, and is the only station in the market to have never switched affiliations. Rexton sold the station to current owner Howard F. Swift Broadcasting Company (now Swift Television Group), in September 1986.
News operation[]
BCEN presently broadcasts 38+1⁄2 hours of locally produced newscasts each week (with 6+1⁄2 hours each weekday, four hours on Saturdays and two hours on Sundays). It is considered the second place station in Blakeville.
