ABS Television Aichi (also known as TV Aichi, JOCI-DTV and TVA) is an ABS Television Network affiliate operating in the Aichi, Nagano and Shizuoka Prefectures of Japan.
The station was previously an affiliate of TV Tokyo's TX Network before the acquisition of ABS.
The station is co-owned by Chubu-ABS Television and Television Aichi Broadcasting Co, Ltd.
ABS acquisition[]
In 2011 (as TXN affiliate), TV Aichi was the first station in Japan to air the then-new Nichijou anime series. This lead to ABS taking interest in TVA's operations. (Nichijou was picked up by ABS in July 2015 in reruns)
On the 14th of October 2015, it was announced that TV Aichi would become ABS Television Aichi by the 25th of November that year. The "TVA" abbreviation, and stylized wordmark would still be used, in contrast to the Arial-typeface wordmarks used by other ABS stations. The station's identifying color would be red.
Chubu-ABS Television (previously responsible for the entire local area's ABS programming operations) ceased broadcasting in the Shizuoka and Nagano regions of the Chubu area when TVA re-launched as an ABS affiliate. CAT and TVA now operate on a "split" between the divide of these prefectures.
CAT would remain on the air in Aichi Prefecture, as a companion network to the rebranded TVA. CAT would continue its normal operations in Aichi, and the TVA "blackspots".
